The story of Piana Miele began in 1903, when Professor Gian Pietro Piana left the University of Milan to move to the green hills of Castel San Pietro, near Bologna. There, together with his son Gaetano, he fell in love with Italian bees, launching a business that combines tradition and innovation. From studying Italian queen bees, known for their docility and productivity, to the establishment of Apicoltura Piana, the company became an international benchmark for queen bee breeding, honey production, and wax sheet manufacturing.

After the Second World War, the Piana brothers continued to expand the business, adding honey packaging to their operations. By the 1990s, Apicoltura Piana had become a leader in the industry, thanks to its commitment to quality, supply chain care, and innovative practices.
